Over the years, the Student Support Center has been a leader in addressing school safety issues. In 2005, SSC and a coalition of 35 charter schools applied for and received federal funding to identify and address threats to students, parents and staff. Since that time, we have remained active in this arena through expanded partnerships with the Metropolitan Police Department and other government agencies. SSC also maintains staff expertise in helping schools deal with a variety of safety issues and can provide analysis, training and evaluation.
Our efforts have been focused on three crucial areas:
- Emergency Planning and Management
- The deployment of Metropolitan Police School Resource Officers to charter schools
- Crime Prevention Audits
